Conservation Stewardship Law Frequently Asked Questions

The Conservation Stewardship Law Emergency Administrative Rule went into effect on Friday December 7, 2007.  Anyone interested in enrolling in the program may now participate.

Wondering if the Conservation Stewardship Plan is right for you?  The tax savings worksheet can be used to determine what your tax savings may be.

1.  Location of Managed Land-  Location of the property for which the management plan is prepared and include county, township, range and section and parcel number

2.  Map of managed land-  11x17 aerial photograph outlining property boundaries and identification of areas of interest with appropriate legend AND Plat map of Township of interest with property outlined.

3.  Description of Managed Land-  This section will include the acreage and habitat type that currently exists on the managed land.

4.  History of Managed Land- A brief summary of how the land was used in the past 10 years.

5.  Flora  and Fauna Present-  This section will give a list of plants and animals on the property

6.  Management objective-  This section will list the general management objectives for the property for the next 10 years

7.  Management practices-  Suggestions and guidelines for implemeting general management plan will be provided

8.  Invasive Species Control-  procedure for controlling or eradicating invasive species that may present on the property.

9.  Allowable Uses-  A list describing what is allowable on the land will be provided

10. List of professional resources-   A list of available professional resources who can help with the implementation of the suggested management practices.

11.  List of financial assistance resources-  A list of sources including federal, state and private programs that may be able to help with the implementation of the plan.

12.  2 copies of plan (one to retain for records and one to submit to ILDNR)

5-39 acres-         $250
40-79 acres-       $450
80-100 acres-     $550
more than 100-   $5/acre
